LoneStarCon 3 is the 71st World Science Fiction Convention. The Worldcon is the annual celebration of science fiction literature and media, with panel discussion, readings, films, dances, workshops, a film festival, an Art Show, Dealer's Room, Exhibits, and major events including a Masquerade and the Hugo Award Ceremony.
This year's Worldcon is coming to to San Antonio. LoneStarCon 3's Guest of Honor are editor Ellen Datlow, educator James Gunn, fan Willie Siros, writer Norman Spinrad and artist Darrell K. Sweet (in memoriam). British writer Paul Cornell will serve as the toastmaster. Musician Leslie Fish and Texas writer Joe R. Lansdale are special guests.
In addition to our guests, LoneStarCon 3 will welcome 400 writers, artists, musicians and scientists as panelists. The Worldcon will have over 400 panels, readings, concerts, dances, autograph sessions, and events, including tributes to the guests, discussions on building star ships, looks at the history of science fiction in Texas, workshops on building steampunk props and the first-ever science-fictional whiffle ball game.
On Friday, August 30, LoneStarCon 3 will feature at least ten panel discussions on a range of topics on Hispanic literature.
Exhibits include a replica of the Star Trek bridge & a tribute to Robert E. Howard.
